When your kids start a new school it’s not only the children that are newbies, it’s you as a parent too. Mrs M was the first mum at school to actually talk to me and even took me for a coffee. You have no idea how relieved I was to have an adult to speak to. Prior to that I’d only had Matt and the kids to talk to for the best part of two months! Not cool. Since then, we’ve moved on from coffee and our families have experienced a fair few BBQs, dinners and parties together. I’m tipping Mrs M probably regrets that first coffee nowLast week I had the M family booked in for a twilight shoot. Photographers refer to the hour before sunset as the golden hour due to the colour of the light produced and it is definitely my favourite time of the day to shoot. On this particular night however, there was no warm glow. There was no sun! We’d had stormy weather and it had rained on and off for the whole day so we called off the shoot. However, at about 6:30pm the clouds had cleared and so Mrs M and I agreed that we would meet down at the beach and grab the last 20 minutes or so of day light.
The storms from the 24 hours leading up to the shoot had created a sandbank which was great for the sunset shots with the shadows in the water.
All too soon, we’d lost the light. As we’d only had a short window of time to complete the session, I did a mini-shoot with the boys the next day. I warn you now, before you look any further, these two young men are ridiculously handsome. We are talking lock-up-your-daughters-in-ten-years’-time good looking.
Told you! They are going to break some hearts.
To the M family – thank you for being great friends and, most of all, for introducing us to Gangnam Style. That’s right, I’ve not forgotten! I thoroughly enjoyed photographing you all. Hope you have a fabulous Christmas and New Year with your family and friends back home.
