Step back to the 1850’s at Sovereign Hill

We went for a day out at Sovereign Hill and, if I am being honest, I thought it would be a bit ‘Disneyfied’. By that I mean all façade and film-set like. I suppose “Universal Studiosified’ would be a more accurate term, but that doesn’t trip off the tongue as easily. Anyway, I digress. I could not have been more wrong. This place was the real deal. Everything was either beautifully preserved in most cases or so well recreated that there was no way to tell that it wasn’t. It was a great experience for the kids. They loved panning for gold and going down the mine. It did cross my mind to put them to work but I’m not sure that is still legal.

I have a fair few images to share but have not had chance to work through them as yet. This one gives you a pretty good idea of the atmosphere for now.

For you photography fans out there, this HDR was done using 5 images.
