Shoes, glorious shoes

My name is Rachael and I have a shoe obsession. It seems to be getting worse the older I get. I’m sure I wasn’t this bad when I was younger.

I went to watch Sex In The City 2 last night with some friends. We went for dinner first so I decided to wear some heels. I just don’t get enough opportunity to wear sexy shoes anymore so I have to make the most of it. I don’t think it is entirely ridiculous to go shopping in Safeway on a Monday afternoon in a pair of 4 inch stilettos. Do you? Prior to having children I didn’t even own a pair of flat shoes. This may have contributed to the diastasis symphysis pubic (separation of my public bone) during my first pregnancy, but hey, my feet looked good even if I was in agony. At about 30 weeks, and after being sternly told of by my midwife and the physiotherapist who was treating me, I had to give in a buy a pair of flats. Since then, heels are a thing a beauty that only seem to get worn for special occasions. Well, the kids are 4 and 6 so I am going to make a concerted effort to wear heels as often as possible.

Sex In The City simply fuels my obsession. There were a pair of glittery gold Christian Louboutin’s right at the beginning of the film that were divine…my friend said she heard me gasp when they came on screen. When we emigrated I culled my shoes and clothes and yet I still ended up shipping about 30 pairs of shoes(boxed) whereas I didn’t ship any clothes as I managed with the ones that fit into my suitcase. ¬†Shoes are great though. If you are having a fat (and not the ph kind) day, shoes still look great. You can put on weight, lose weight, not have a tan and they always fit and look good. Plus, at my height, an extra 4 or 5 inches make a huge difference, especially stood next to my husband who, without wearing heels (that’s me not him), is over a foot taller than me.

Last night’s shoes are pictured here; one of my favourite Carvela pairs. I bought them in the UK with my friend, Ann.We liked them so much that we both bought a pair. Of course, we had to then check with each other every time we intended to wear them.

SITC2 was funny and although the story wasn’t as good as the first movie it’s was well worth going to watch, even if it’s just to drool over the shoes, clothes and, oh and Aiden.

Happy Wednesday!
