Melbourne Grand Prix 2010

I have to say the lifestyle here in Melbourne ain’t too shabby. Matt had the day off work AGAIN today. We are British, we feel the need to make the most of good weather. We think we’re on borrowed time. It is imprinted into our psyche. We’re nearly a month into Autumn and still enjoying fabulous weather. In the UK if the temperature hit anything over 20 degrees I found any excuse to be outside, even if it meant ironing outside….. I am not joking. Dont judge until you’ve spent 30 summers in the UK. Matt was also able to come to Georgia’s parent/teacher interviews today as she finished the first term at school yesterday.  I am so proud of her, she has done so well in her first term at school. How quick was that though? One whole term…GONE! I am not going to dwell on it, it’s disturbing.

Anyway we decided to keep the little guy off kinder and had a day out (need to make the most of the weather don’t you know) and we headed to the Grand Prix. It was practice day and I have to admit to not being much of  Formula One fan…..that is until today. They are awesome! It’s just not the same watching it on the TV. The kids loved it although we weren’t quite prepared for the noise.

Fortunately help was at hand…

It’s actually exciting watching the cars go round and you can’t really appreciate the speed until you’re there amongst it. I’ve got so many shots but this one is my favourite with the rather dashing Jenson Button at the helm. How sleek and sexy is that car? Do you think it would fit my weekly shopping in?

Once we were in the Grand Prix gates there was so much to do and see.  A mixture of corporate and entertainment tents was great to see. Particularly for us, with two young kids, highlights included face painting,

Roary the Racing Car,

I have a feeling Marcus may turn out to be a little competitive….2nd place just wasn’t good enough (I, on the other hand, was making a fool of myself and cheering……..ooops, maybe that’s why he is frowning at me).

and Harley Davisdon. Rebel Without A Cause springs to mind…

Georgia wanted to drive us home after her Harley experience. Have a great weekend guys!
