These were the words from the Leader newspaper…
‘HOLIDAYING school kids will enjoy an icetravaganza this month when suburban Melbourne’s first on-street ice rink is erected in Frankston.
The city centre will become an exciting winter wonderland during the school break and, regardless of the weather, the unusual holiday attraction will get everyone shivering.’
So surely I would be forgiven for assuming it would be an ICE-rink? It would seem ye olde saying, ‘never ASSUME or ye shall make an ASS out of U and ME’, was appropriate. Okay, maybe the saying isn’t that old but it amuses me to think of people in the 1800s saying it. Anyway, the point is, there was NO ICE! Actually, I have to admit that with a 4 and 6 year old, the plastic flooring was far better. At least they could keep upright. Well, Georgia, who shall hereinafter be know as Georgia ‘Torvill’ Turner, managed to. What can I say? She has my athletic genes.
Marcus, took a little time to warm up, but once he got the hang of it, he was pretty good too. Which was amazing seeing as he normally trips over his own shadow.
