I first met Heather at a playgroup only a couple of weeks after arriving in Australia. In fact she was probably the first contact I entered into my mobile, aside from my husbands. She had recently moved from Sydney and so we were in a very similar position; new town and no mates! Heather is a remarkable woman, once met you would never forget her. She is the most energetic, enthusiastic and creative person you could hope to meet. After a few weeks of knowing each other she introduced me to the McClelland Gallery. As we walked through the grounds of the gallery, she said she’d been toying with an idea of helping and inspiring other women called Inspiring Mums. This would be a not for profit organisation. At this stage Heather was in the very early concept stages, but within days, she’d set up a website and was on a mission. Heather is like that, she doesn’t sit around and wait for things to happen, she MAKES them happen. An Inspiring Mum if ever there was one!
Since that conversation in the gallery grounds, Inspiring Mums has morphed into something only Heather herself could have imagined. She has a huge online community which is growing daily. She has, at the last count, and I checked this morning, 4675 Facebook followers! All this in less than 2 years! To top all this off, in the same time, she also set up and runs a successful design company and somehow fits in the time to be a wife and mum to her beautiful daughter, who she affectionately refers to as her baby dinosaur. The great news is, that Heather’s about to bring another baby dinosaur into the world and I had the pleasure of taking her maternity pictures. Heather said she would leave location of the shoot to me. I thought it only fitting that we do it at the McClelland Gallery.
I have not as yet managed to work through all the pictures but this one jumped out at me and screamed “Pick me”! I will post some more as soon as possible, for the time being, this is my friend and incredible lady, Heather.
