We try to eat as much organic food as is realistic. The supermarkets have started to have a much bigger range in the last 6 months or so and we source a lot of our food from a great farmer’s market in East Perth. It is expensive, there’s no two ways about it, so we have started growing our own herbs and chillis. Baby steps, as we are really not green fingered by any stretch of the imagination. Given that we love spicy foods, we have 4 different chilli plants.
As we lounged around outside one day, Georgia said, “Mum, there’s some more chilli plants at the bottom of the garden.” Would you believe the owners of the house had planted 4 more plants (also organic, we found the tag)! How we had not noticed them I have no ide….it isn’t a big garden and there were 107 bright red, ripe chillis ready to harvest there and then!
We now have an abundance of chillis. We’ve given them away to anyone that vaguely expresses an interest in them. We’ve made chilli sauces, frozen some, dried some, added them to every dish we’ve made and have pretty much run out of ideas of what to do with them! All suggestions welcomed in exchange for a bag of them!
